Romano Fenati ‘Red’ helmet (Misano 2012)

In 2012 Romano Fenati wore a brightly coloured red helmet for the 2012 Misano Moto3 GP.

The red helmet, which was pretty much devoid of any sponsorhip logos, was a tribute to the graphics that you see on TV when a rider scores a fastest lap time, which is represented by a red helmet icon next to their name.

It seemed to work well for Fenati who bagged his best qualifying result to date and secured 2nd place on the grid behind pole sitter Antonelli.

Fenati said:

“Finally on first row! I want to thank the mechanics and the red helmet, which brought me luck. This one of the few tracks I already know and where I can fight on the same level as the others. I want to race at the front.”

Okay, so he may have been kicked out of the VR46 Moto3 team part-way through the 2016 Moto3 season for ‘behavioural’ issues, but there isn’t a race fan that didn’t welcome the news that Romano Fenati would be returning to Moto3 in 2017 for the Marinelli Rivacold Snipers team.

Fenati’s race-day attitude and aggression won over many fans, and Moto3 is a more entertaining class with him in it.

This is Fenati’s new 2017 helmet that has been created by Starline Designers.

This is a really nice lid – it is very understated in the design and colour scheme, but it really works in our opinion.

The design is devastatingly simple and understated. A white and silver base with a lattice pattern criss-crossing across the top. The base of the helmet features a silhouette of a town (Fenati’s home town of Ascoli Piceno maybe?), and the rear features a huge silver ‘V’ – the roman numeral for ‘5’, Fenati’s race number.

Jorge Navarro Spiderman

In 2016 Jorge Navarro came to the Czech Grand Prix at Brno with a very special helmet design. HJC helmets, the brand that Navarro races in, had just announced that they would be one of the main sponsors of the Czech GP and they had also recently tied up a deal with Marvel in order to create a series of mass market helmets with famous Marvel characters as inspiration – such as Spiderman, Iron Man, The Punisher and more.

Jorge Navarro hit the track with the new Spiderman helmet design to help promote the HJC and Marvel partnership.

This isn’t the first time Spiderman has made an appearance on the racetrack, Marco Melandri has raced with Spiderman livery (including full bike livery) in 2002 and 2004 in order to promote the Spiderman films.

Jorge Navarro’s Spiderman helmet was designed by Starline Designers and if you want to know where you can buy the Spiderman helmet (and others like Iron Man) then check out these links:

A look at the 2014 Jack Miller Moto3 helmet that he had created for his home Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

This design was created by Starline Designers and it is a patriotic themed helmet that Miller wore for the Moto3 race in Australia. The helmet design is based around the Australian flag with a silver and blue metallic looking base.

The usual ‘Jackass’ cartoon donkey is replaced on the rear of the helmet with an image of Australia with the slogan ‘Home Sweet Home‘ written on it with some images of Miller’s favorite Aussie foods – meat pies and sausage rolls.

Miller went on to win the race and said:

“It was a big old fight for sure. And to win here with the top speed problems I’m having is really, really good for me. I feel that was probably the best race I’ve ever done. Even during the race, you could see (Australian) flags flying and you could really, really feel the support. It was a great feeling.” I enjoyed it, but it was also very scary at times. It was incredible. Everybody fought quite cleanly. I don’t think we could ask for a better result.”

This is the Jorge Navarro 2016 Moto3 helmet.

Navarro raced with HJC helmets for the 2016 Moto3 season and his helmet design was created by Starline Designers.

This is a clean but bold, looking black and blue design that features a grey and white camouflage print on the top with red trim on the edges.

The rear of the helmet has the ‘Cuna De Campeones‘ logo. Cuna De Campeones is a Spanish race academy that acts as an incubator for talented young riders and it helps the develop their skills.

We are taking a step back in time to look at the 2013 Jack Miller Moto3 helmet.

This helmet design was created by Starline Designers and at the time Miller was racing in Scorpion helmets (he has since moved to AGV).

We love this design as it has a very minimal and stripped back feel to it, plus the use of black as the primary colour of the helmet isn’t something you see in the Grand Prix field too much these days (even Miller himself has gone for more colourful options in recent years).

The helmet simply featured two star motifs on the upper sides of the helmet, the Monster Energy green claw logo on the sides, and Miller’s ‘Jackass’ cartoon is featured on the rear. A blue stripe with white stars runs up the top of the helmet as a nod to the Australian flag.
