John Hopkins 2016

We have been a fan of all of the John Hopkins race helmet designs, even way back from his MotoGP days. Hopper has carried along a similar theme through most of his helmets that usually features gambling symbols like dice, and colours and themes from the US flag and the Union Jack that reflect his dual heritage and rich history linked to both countries.

His 2016 helmet fuses his usual themes into a great looking lid that was designed by Starline Designers. The sides feature red, white, and blue stripes evoking the Union Jack and the top of the helmet features a red, white and blue stripe studded with stars representing the US flag.

The rear of the helmet features Hopper’s ‘dice’ and ‘Hopper 21’ logos.

Dan Linfoot BSB

This is the helmet design that Dan Linfoot wore during the 2015 British Superbikes season and it was easily one of the most colourful helmets on the BSB grid.

The helmet was designed by Paint Nation, who have their hands on so many UK riders lids, and it is comprised of colourful paint splashes giving a rainbow effect that splashes towrds the back of the helmet. It looks like Linfoot has ridden at high speed through a paint factory.

The rear of the helmet features Linfoots initials and racing number ‘4’.

The paint job was done on a Shoei X-Spirit 2 helmet which was the brand and model that Linfoot was racing with for the 2015 BSB season.

Shane Byrne 2016 British Superbike Championship helmet

Shane Byrne British Superbike Championship gold helmet

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne claimed his fifth MCE British Superbike championship title with one race to go in the season by finishing sixth, right behind his rival Leon Haslam in fifth at Brands Hatch.

Shane Byrne said:

“The way we have worked this year has been key for the championship because as I was very keen not to rush or short cut anything and we took on a new project with the Panigale R and Ducati have given us some great support. We had a lot of work to do and our team worked really well, and I worked well with my crew chief Giovanni. It took me seven races to actually win a race on the Ducati and we turned a bike that hasn’t won a race in a number of years to a bike that has won nine and a title.”

No other rider has won the British Superbike Championship five times and to celebrate the achievement Shoei presented Shakey Byrne with a stunning looking gold helmet to wear on his warm-down lap.
