Shoya Tomizawa was a rising star in the motorcycle racing world until his career was sadly cut short at the Misano 2010 Moto2 race, where Tomizawa suffered fatal injuries in a crash.
Originally from Asahi, in Chiba, Japan – Tomizawa started his career in the 125cc class of “All Japan Road Race Championship”. He soon moved on to compete in the 250cc class in the MotoGP series before moving across to Moto2 when that replaced the 250’s in 2010.
Tomizawa won the first ever Moto2 race in Qatar and took pole position in the following round at Spain. Deemed a ‘star of the future’ by many, Tomizawa sadly never got to fulfil his promise and is deeply missed.
