Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne replica helmets can sometimes be a little bit difficult to track down, and it is definitely much harder to find them in the US, however most good online stockists will ship globally and Shoei have a beautiful looking Shane Byrne replica on the market at the moment in the very affordable NXR range.

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne biography:
Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne was born in London in 1976 and before his racing career he worked a road tester for Fast Bikes magazine. On one of Shakey’s regular track days doing road tests for the magazine he caught the eye of the influential Paul Bird who would become a long time friend and eventually a team boss of Shane Byrne.

Byrne first entered British Superbikes in 1999 racing a Kawasaki, before moving on to Suzuki in 2001. He eventually carved out a name for himself and joined the Renegade Ducati team for 2002 and went on to claim his first BSB race win in the same year. In 2003 Byrne moved to the MonsterMob team in BSB and dominated the season taking multiple race wins before storming on to take the title.

During 2004 and 2005 Shakey raced in MotoGP, first for Aprilia, before moving to Kenny Robert’s team who were running Proton KTM bikes, which were not up to scratch when compared with the rest of the grid.

Byrne left MotoGP and returned to British Superbikes in 2006 and joined the Rizla Suzuki team and finished in 6th place in the overall standings. Byrne stayed in BSB and in 2008 he joined forces with Ducati once again and raced for the Airwaves Ducati team on a Ducati 1098. The 2008 season was a huge success and Byrne recorded 10 race victories and claimed his second British Superbike championship title.

Byrne had a brief and frustrating stint in World Superbikes, before returning once again to British Superbikes in 2011. Byrne has been hugely successful since his return to British Superbikes and he went on to win the BSB title three more times (2012, 2014, and 2016).

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne is the only racer to win British Superbikes 5 times in the history of the series and in 2014 he was awarded the Torrens Trophy in recognition of his achievements in British Superbikes.
