Arai have released another classic Colin Edwards replica helmet – this is the Colin Edwards ‘Legend’ design that is now available in Aria’s new Chaser X range. The Chaser X is Arai’s mid-range helmet model and it’s an excellent and popular helmet as it can handle track-days while also coming with enough flexibility and functionality for everyday day riding and commuting.
Colin Edwards raced with this design from around 2005 onwards, and the yellow version that he wore at the 2005 Laguna Seca MotoGP is also available.
The design is very iconic and features the Stars and Stripes running up the center of the helmet while Edwards race number ‘5’ is stamped on the sides. The base features the red, white, and black Yamaha design running around it. It is a beautiful and timeless design.
Official Description of the Arai Colin Edwards Chaser X helmet:
To celebrate a long and succesful career, the Chaser-X has introduced the Colin Edwards legends replica. Available in 2 colours, the Chaser-X features FCS (Facial Contour System) and a fixed, non-retractable mini chin cover. The chin vent is also new, while the Formula One developed visor lock system is the same as used on the RX-7V. All Chaser-X helmets come with a standard Max Vision visor with a Pinlock inlay lens separately packed in the box.
Chaser-X is the third Arai helmet that makes use of the new VAS (variable Axis System) technology that offers a significant larger and smoother shell area above the SNELL test line greatly improving the important helmet glancing off performance. The Chaser-X makes use of an also completely new ventilation system derived from the RX-7V, instantly recognizable by the large, single intake duct on top of the helmet. This Top Ventilation System is derived from the RX-7V diffuser system. The replaceable interior is lined with an anti-microbial fabric.

The Chaser X is Arai’s replacement to the hugely popular Chaser V helmet, and it is designed as a helmet to appeal to all riders and is usable in all seasons and weather conditions.
The Chaser is unique in the sense that it is flexible for daily road use and commuting, but it can also be taken on to the track where it can hold its own at speed.
Arai have basically lifted a bunch of features from their race model, the RX7-V, such as the ventilation system and the visor locking mechanism, and have ported it across to the mid-range Chaser X model giving it a very impressive spec for a mid-range helmet. The Chaser X is obviously a little heavier than it’s top-range sibling, but to be honest aside from the weight there isn’t too many other differences between the two that an average biker would notice.
The Chaser X is flexible helmet with safety, aerodynamics, and flexibility at the forefront. Riders will be getting real value for money with this mid-range priced helmet, as it will last for years while providing the flexibility needed for all riding conditions and styles.
