Carlos Checa might now be retired from professional motorcycle racing, but the Nolan group (under their Nolan and X-Lite brands) still have some classic Carlos Checa replica helmets available to buy.
Nolan have now made the classic ‘World Map’ design that Checa wore towards the end of his racing career (including his 2011 WSBK Championship winning season) available in their everyday and insanely cheap Nolan N64 range. This is literally the cheapest way to get an official race replica helmet.
Nolan have made this classic and iconic design available in blue and white, black and white, and also in the special red and white that was created to pay tribute to Checa’s 20 year anniversary in motorcycle racing.
The N64 is the perfect day to day helmet, and retails at the very affordable price of under $200 / £150, and you can get it even cheaper than that online (see links below).
The N64 is Nolan’s new full-face helmet, designed for road use and ideal for all conditions, from long trips to daily use around town. This new model stands out thanks to its racing style design and the attention to detail making it a a great everyday helmet…..and the competitive price is an added bonus.

Our review of the Nolan N64 Gemeni helmet:
This is intended as an entry level helmet, which is reflected in the price. As a result the helmet is optimised for day to day road use, whether that is a short commute to work or a trip across the county to see family. This helmet basically has you covered for both use cases, and gives you enough features and flexibility for it to be pretty much everything you need.
The overall fit of this helmet is actually pretty neutral and there is plenty of room inside without it feeling claustrophobic. The shell of the helmet has an aggressive shape and looks like a sports helmet, especially with the replica graphics that are available in the Nolan N64 Gemini (including this great looking Carlos Checa one) range. The interior of the helmet can be fully removed for cleaning, and ventilation is provided by two vents positioned at the front (one at the chin and the other above the visor), and the air is then extracted by vents at the rear.
The visor has an anti-scratch coating applied to it to make it last longer, and it also has a Microlock retention system, allowing for visor removal without the need for additional tools.
In summary, if you are not a track rider then the Nolan is a solid everyday helmet with the added advantage that you can pick it up with some stunning race graphics.
Price and availability: This is stupidly cheap for a quality helmet from a trusted brand with race replica graphics – expect to pay less than than $200 / £150. Makes a perfect day to day commuting helmet or a cheap spare. Stock of the Checa design tends to skew more towards Europe on availability though.
