Arai have just release a brand new Colin Edwards helmet design in their Corsair V range and RX-7 GP range (the Corsair is called the RX-7 GP outside of the US).
The design is really striking – it is a replica of the helmet that Edwards first raced with in the 2011 Indianapolis MotoGP. The design was a tribute to the the US Navy SEALs and features their crest and the Stars and Stripes.
Dani Pedrosa and Cal Crutchlow will be appearing live at the Motorcycle Live show that is taking place at the Birmingham NEC from the 19th – 27th November, 2011.
Pedrosa will be signing autographs and giving interviews on Arai’s stand B320, which can be found in Hall 2. Cal Crutchlow will be opening the show by starting up and revving his Yamaha M1 live on the main stage.
Joining Pedrosa on the Arai stand will be Crutchlow, Johnny Rea, and Leon Haslam.
Arai will also be takin the opportunity to showcase their new and forthcoming helmet range that includes two new models.
1) The Arai Axces II features a completely new shell and interior with a wider aperture and visor, giving better peripheral vision and provides a fantastic entry point into the Arai brand.
2) Arai Tour X-4. The Tour-X has long been the benchmark helmet for adventure sports riding and the Tour X-4 is a superb evolution, featuring a re-designed, new shape shell with reinforced hyper ridge around the base. The revised, bigger chin vent gives better airflow and there are now brow vents added to the visor; the rear exhaust vents are also a sharper, more aggressive design.
And if that wasn’t enough, there will also be new and fresh designs being launched that includes a new Jonathan Rea RX-7 GP replica helmet (photos when we have them).
Motorcycle Live runs from 19th-27th November 2011. Tickets are £16 in advance for adults, £10 for Senior and £6 for children aged 6-16

Leon Haslam will be wearing a special Arai helmet to support ‘SPARKS’, which stands for Sports Aiding medical Research for Kids at this years WSBK race at Silverstone (31st July).
Haslam is also personally donating £10 for every point he scores in the 2011 WSBK season to the charity.
The design features a bright blue base covered in yellow stars – which is the colour scheme for the SPARKS charity. The helmet also features an infant’s hand reaching out and holding an adult’s finger around the base and the sides of the helmet.
The rear features a giant star with a child’s eye staring out.
Leon Haslam said: “I first played golf in a SPARKS event in 2003 and it’s a great organisation. The work they do through medical research really has made a difference for thousands of children and families and continues to do so. I scored 376 points in 2010 but I’d rather score what Max Biaggi scored with 451, win the Championship and hand over a bigger cheque to SPARKS! I love the unique paintwork on my Arai RX-7 GP for Silverstone, too. Of course it looks superb, but at the same time underlines the mission of help and support that SPARKS gives to kids beautifully.”

Don’t actually think we could like this design anymore than we already do – it is pretty much a perfect blend of classic and iconic motorcycle imagery, coupled with modern shape and design.
The helmet features a solid black base, with a checkered flag print that runs around the base. The iconoc ‘Norton’ logo is positioned in gold text at the front of the helmet, with a ‘union jack’ flag on the sides.
Launched in December 2008 after a full season’s testing by Arai’s MotoGP and Grand Prix riders, the RX-7 GP replaces the Corsair as its range-topping helmet and is completely new from construction right through to the visor. The structural net composite (SNC) shell with peripheral belting and enhanced hyper ridge strengthening in the lower section represents Arai’s most advance design to date. Other benefits from the new construction include a larger opening to make the helmet more comfortable when putting it on and off and with the centre of gravity moved lower, the helmet sits more naturally to help reduce fatigue. Changes to the quick release visor have increased peripheral vision while the switches on the vents are now bigger, making them easier to operate wearing gloves. Between the trademark twin diffusers is now a five-position air wing, designed to reduce drag, turbulence and buffeting.
* Peripherally belted SNC (Structural Net Composite) shell
* Enhanced hyper ridge strengthening in lower section
* Larger opening for increased ease when taking helmet on or off

* Wider aperture/larger visor – for better peripheral vision

Must control our excitement……..the Arai RX-7 Mick Doohan TT Limited Edition helmet is now popping up in a few places for pre-order (like FC-Moto).
Mick Doohan is doing a lap of honour at this year’s Isle of Man TT, and is being joined by various MotoGP riders for the parade around the circuit. This helmet, designed by Aldo Drudi, is being released to celebrate it.
The helmet is loosly based on Doohan’s previous racing helmet designs, and features the Isle of Man logo and the ‘TT’ logo on either side. Simple but stunning looking design.
The helmet is not being released until July/Aug, but like we said, if you want to secure one then you can place pre-orders now.
The video covers the creation and evolution of the Arai helmets brand, as well as insights into the research and development centers hat they run.
Plenty of interviews, insights, and shots of a whole range of Arai helmets – and an interesting ‘out of content’ soundtrack that alternates between sleezy jazz-funk to Gladiator (Hanz Zimmer) style epic orchestration.
