The Mugello round of any MotoGP season usually sees all the Italian riders rushing back to their designer’s studio in order to create a special helmet design to mark the occasion. Valentino Rossi usually steals the headlines with his creations, but Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone usually bring something eyecatching to the track as well.

In 2016 Andrea Dovizioso wore probably one of the best helmet designs he has had in years to the Mugello round of the MotoGP. The helmet was created by Starline Designers, a famous Italian design studio that are probably one of the most active and prolific designers in recent years for creating race helmet designs. You can check out all the images below.

The helmet was dubbed ‘The Italian Stallion‘, and it featured Dovi’s long running ‘stallion’ motif – this is a motif that Dovi has raced with for years and his helmets usually feature a white horse and a dark horse, each horse is supposed to represent the traits that Dovi tries to bring to every race – the dark horse signifying aggression and grit, the white horse representing integrity and honesty.

The two horses in his 2016 Mugello helmet were combined into a single stunning image on the back of the helmet.

The helmet featured deep blue strips at the front of the helmet which changed to red stripes towards the rear of the helmet. A beautiful looking design, classy and striking.
